Quinoa

Small seed, mighty nutrition!

Good to know

It’s important to rinse the quinoa grains under cold water before cooking to remove this coating. Then, cook it in twice its volume of water or broth for about fifteen minutes.

Quinoa grown in Québec does not contain saponin, but it is suggested to rince them either!

Its key benefits

How can they be used in the kitchen?

Quinoa is a versatile, easy-to-cook ingredient — perfect for diversifying your meals!

It offers a soft, slightly crunchy texture with a mild, subtle nutty flavour. You can enjoy it hot or cold, in salads, soups, tabbouleh, vegetarian patties, or desserts. The different varieties grown in Québec — white (light and quick-cooking) and red (firmer) — let you play with textures and colours on your plate!

You can store quinoa for several months in an airtight container kept cool and dry. Once cooked, however, it should be refrigerated and eaten within a few days.

And if you want to go further, many derived forms exist: flakes for breakfast granola, flour for baking, or puffed grains for snacks.
